The Queen's Garden Party Buckingham Palace.
Four volunteers of the theatre were asked to attend the Queen's Garden Party on Tuesday 22nd May, representing Shanklin Theatre.
Vivien Howell, Alana Bird, Derek Pegram and myself were indeed very proud to be among 8,000 guests from all over the country and from every walk of life.
We were asked if we would like to be introduced to Princess Anne, the Princess Royal. Of course, we accepted! We spoke to her about the theatre and how the theatre had been saved from closure by a very dedicated and hard working group of friends, supporters, volunteers, supervisors, theatre staff, directors and trustees.
On behalf of the Friends we would like to thank you all for allowing us to represent you at the Queen's Garden Party.
Michael Beston

SUCCESS BREEDS SUCCESS
When we asked “Do you think that Shanklin, and indeed the Isle of Wight deserves to have a facility like Shanklin Theatre?” you responded in your hundreds. There is no doubt that without the influence of FOST (Friends of Shanklin Theatre), the Theatre would no longer exist.
Shanklin Theatre has gone from strength to strength with more and more shows and productions with a vast variety, from Pantomime to Murder Mysteries and from Solo Monologues to full Broadway representations.
With more ‘on stage’ productions we need even more ‘off stage’ help from the volunteers from the Friends. There is room for YOU, we would welcome YOU and YOU CAN help!
Please consider being a "friend" of Shanklin Theatre and for a very small subscription you can join our gang; or perhaps consider being a patron.
Have you got time to spare? Want to do something useful? Want to meet and make new friends? If you would like to take a more active role, please consider becoming a "volunteer". There are lots of ways you can get involved.
